Helsinki-based pianist and composer Toomas Keski-S\u00e4ntti recorded his debut album Unearth while living in New York City. Released in March 2025 on the Spanish label Fresh Sound, the album marks the acclaimed pianist\u2019s first appearance as a bandleader.<\/p>\n

To bring the music of the album to life, Keski-S\u00e4ntti assembled a group of top-tier musicians from Finland\u2019s jazz scene. For this concert, the band performs as a trio, presenting both compositions from Unearth and newer works. Drummer Teppo M\u00e4kynen and double bassist Joonas Tuuri have long been Keski-S\u00e4ntti\u2019s trusted musical collaborators.<\/p>\n

In Keski-S\u00e4ntti\u2019s powerful compositions, the energy of the metropolis meets the clarity and openness of Nordic soundscapes in a compelling way. The trio\u2019s dynamic is defined by the equal opportunity of each musician to steer the music in unexpected directions.<\/p>\n

Keski-S\u00e4ntti is a familiar name in many of Finland\u2019s leading jazz ensembles, including OK:KO, Jukka Perko PreBoppers, and Selma Savolainen Horror Vacui, the latter of which won a Jazz Emma Award last year. He has performed actively at clubs and festivals across Europe as well as in New York.<\/p>\n
