Redan fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan stod det klart att bandets musik inte gick att placera i n\u00e5gon kategori, den gleder l\u00e4tt \u00f6ver musikaliska genregr\u00e4nser. Bandets namn inneh\u00e5ller en referens till Kalevalas poesi, d\u00e4r Kokko betyder en j\u00e4tte\u00f6rn. Det finns ocks\u00e5 m\u00e5nga referenser till nordisk lyrism i bandets musik, melodierna har b\u00e5de rymd och djup. Inspiration och influenser har dock kommit fr\u00e5n indisk och arabisk musik samt kubanska rytmer.<\/p>\n<p>Intresset f\u00f6r uttrycksfrihet och jazz samt v\u00e4rldsmusik f\u00f6renar bandmedlemmarna. Bandet har sl\u00e4ppt tv\u00e5 album, Orient Express (Eclipse Music 2016) och Like a River (2013), som har f\u00e5tt positiv uppm\u00e4rksamhet i b\u00e5de finsk och internationell media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kokko Quartet<\/strong>:<br \/>\n<strong>Kaisa Siirala<\/strong>: Saxofoner och fl\u00f6jter<br \/>\n<strong>Johanna Pitk\u00e4nen<\/strong>: piano<br \/>\n<strong>Timo Tuppurainen<\/strong>: kontrabas<br \/>\n<strong>Risto Takala<\/strong>: trummor<\/p>\n<p>Kokko Quartets tredje album Broken Dream ges ut den 10 mars 2022. Kokko Quartets tredje album bygger p\u00e5 saxofonisten-komposit\u00f6ren Kaisa Siiralas mentala landskap. Kompositionerna f\u00e5ngar ett \u00f6gonblicks f\u00f6rt\u00e4tande atmosf\u00e4r, som \u00f6ppningssp\u00e5ret Moon Over Mysores skapar bild av tysta vindber\u00f6rda kokospalmblad som ibland avsl\u00f6jar en skimrande fullm\u00e5ne. \u00c5 andra sidan kombinerar s\u00e5ngerna f\u00f6rg\u00e5ngen tid och nutid; den st\u00e4ndigt str\u00f6mmande floden Tigris har sett m\u00e4nsklighetens utveckling och l\u00e5gkonjunktur. Krig har f\u00e4rgat dess vatten r\u00f6tt med blod, men m\u00e5nga k\u00e4rlekshistorier har ocks\u00e5 uppst\u00e5tt p\u00e5 dess str\u00e4nder. L\u00e5ten, komponerad av pianisten Johanna Pitk\u00e4nen och uppkallad efter kryptoapparaten Enigma, presenterar musikaliska g\u00e5tor, som den ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6rs\u00f6ker l\u00f6sa sj\u00e4lv.<\/p>\n<p>Albumet Broken Dream lyfter fram de musikaliska traditioner som inspirerade Siirala, den nordindiska hindustani och sydindiska karnatiska traditioner, s\u00e5v\u00e4l som arabisk musik. Begreppen i indisk musik &#8211; ragas, talas och lehras \u00e4r sammanfl\u00e4tade i komposit\u00f6rens egen fantasi. Albumets titelsp\u00e5r, Broken Dream, inneh\u00e5ller material fr\u00e5n etiopisk musik och refererar till Jim Jarmuschs film Broken Flowers, som ocks\u00e5 inneh\u00e5ller etiopisk musik. The Broken Dream, som best\u00e5r av nio originalkompositioner, forts\u00e4tter den stil som \u00e4r karakteristisk f\u00f6r Kokko Quartet, att bryta de musikaliska gr\u00e4nserna med kreativitetens kraft, nu \u00e4nnu mer intensivt \u00e4n tidigare.
