Gitarristen Topias Tihe\u00e4salo spelar versioner av kompositioner som han sj\u00e4lv kallar f\u00f6r \u201dfree jazz-ballader\u201d. P\u00e5 konserterna har han med sig ett urval stycken vars komposit\u00f6rsnamn varierar fr\u00e5n John Coltrane till Duke Ellington och fr\u00e5n Don Cherry till Albert Ayler. Han str\u00e4var efter att hitta kompositionernas k\u00e4rna genom att skala bort och f\u00f6renkla: p\u00e5 s\u00e5 s\u00e4tt uppst\u00e5r n\u00e4stan skelettliknande tolkningar som \u00e4nd\u00e5 lever starkt i stunden. Dessutom spelar Tihe\u00e4salo sina egna kompositioner, men tyngdpunkten ligger alltid p\u00e5 improvisation som uppst\u00e5r inom en mycket fri ram. I centrum st\u00e5r klang, sound, atmosf\u00e4r \u2013 \u00e4ven korta \u00f6gonblick av tystnad.<\/p>\n

Topias Tihe\u00e4salo \u00e4r en musiker bosatt i \u00c5bo som spelar fri jazz, experimentell musik och improvisation i dess olika former. P\u00e5 senare tid har Tihe\u00e4salo samarbetat bland annat med Jussi Lehtisalo och Lau Nau, han spelar elgitarrmusik i Pekka Laines The Enchanted, free jazz i grupperna Phardah och Tahmela Six, upptr\u00e4der flitigt som solist och g\u00f6r experimentella film f\u00f6rest\u00e4llningar tillsammans med bildkonstn\u00e4ren Pauliina M\u00e4kel\u00e4 under namnet Kultapalmut. Under de senaste dryga tio \u00e5ren har Tihe\u00e4salo ocks\u00e5 producerat specialprogram och serier om musik f\u00f6r kanalen Yle Radio 1.<\/p>\n
