Introduction to Jazz

The event is part of Helsinki Jazz Association’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Before the performance, Helsinki Jazz Association’s chairman of the board, Sakari Puhakka, will briefly talk about the history of the association.

Joonas Riippa: drums

This trio, consisting of some of Finland’s leading jazz musicians, will perform pieces ranging from early New Orleans jazz to late 1960s free jazz. During the performance, there will be discussions and explanations about jazz’s form, tradition, and the distinctive features of each style. The audience is also welcome to ask the musicians questions about anything related to jazz – the floor is open!
