Helsinki Jazz ry’s core activities is the organization of jaZZanti
concerts and events in Helsinki with various partners. Our concert
program consists of contemporary jazz and improvised music created by
excellent and impressive Finnish and foreign musicians. At the concerts, we
strive to create an immediate interaction between the musicians and
the audience. Many of our concerts are completely acoustic and
intimate.
In recent years, we have begun to collaborate with Nordic musicians,
initially mainly with Swedish musicians. In the future, co-operation
will also be extended to other Nordic countries.
The most important backers of our activities are City of Helsinki and
Music Promotion Foundation. Other backers include Svenska
Kulturfonden and from case to case The Arts Promotion Centre Finland
(Taike) and other organisations.
We are members of Finnish Jazz Federation, LiveFIN and the European Jazz
Network (EJN).
Helsinki Jazz ry has its roots in the University of Helsinki, because in the
late 60’s Akateeminen Jazzkerho was founded, and as its successor,
Helsinki Jazz ry was established and it was registered on 01.04.1974.
In collaboration with City of Helsinki – Culture and Leisure, we have
organized a number of events, e.g. at the turn of the seventies and
eighties, concerts were held in Annantalo, later at various cultural
centres and jaZZanti concerts mainly in the restaurant Laulumiehet.
Come and enjoy the enriching and impressive music at our concerts.
Our membership fee is 25 € per year, or support fee 60 € per year.
The membership fee gives you one free ticket for two persons for a
standard priced concert and the support fee gives you two concerts
for two persons. If you want to become a member, register your name
in our member list at our concerts or communicate your information to
Sakari Puhakka (sakari.puhakka at kolumbus.fi).
