Anni Kiviniemi Trio will celebrate the release of their debut album “Eir” (We Jazz Records) and play music that is partly composed by Kiviniemi and partly improvised. The compositions are influenced by Kiviniemi’s explorations into contemporary classical music, Norwegian folk music, North African and Middle Eastern music traditions, and free jazz. Trio’s life performances have been described as “lyrical and explosive” as well as “unapologetically original, beautifully timeless” and ”completely devoid of superficial clichés of contemporary piano trio jazz”. The element of surprise is always present, as well as the eternal quest of discovering something deeply felt and beautiful.
Anni Kiviniemi is a Los Angeles based pianist and composer, who lived and studied in Norway before her relocation to the United States.
