Award-winning saxophonist, composer and bandleader, 1978 Born in Lapinjärvi, Mikko Innanen is one of the most important Finnish jazz musicians of his generation. Innanen is a versatile and open-minded artist who moves smoothly from freely improvised music to fully composed music, from intimate solos and duets to large orchestras. Having created a long international career, Innanen has performed in 38 countries, on five continents, and his wide-ranging playing and musical production has been recorded on almost 80 published recordings.
Now Innanen performs for the first time as a duo with Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten. Born in 1971 in Oppdal, Norway, Håker Flaten has created an extensive international career by performing in the last decades around the world with his own bands Atomic, The Thing, Element and Young Mothers, as well as with musicians such as Joe McPhee, David Murray, Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Neneh Cherry, James Blood Ulmer, Chris Potter and Hamid Drake. In Finland, he has become famous especially for guitarist Raoul Björkenheim’s Scortch Trio. Hard-working and award-winning bassist, composer and bandleader Håker Flaten has played on more than 200 published recordings.
