Teppo Hauta-aho (1941-2021) was a Finnish double bass player and composer. He was a distinguished musician in the circles of classical music, jazz and improvisational music. Hauta-aho composed a lot of orchestral and chamber music, and his production for double bass is extensive. Hauta-aho played in the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the National Opera until he became a freelance artist in 1999.

Hauta-aho played e.g. with Cecil Taylor, Evan Parker, Anthony Braxton, Yoko Miura and Marilyn Crispell, and in bands such as the Tuohi Quartet, Kalmisto-Klangi, Quintet Moderne, Trio Nueva Finlandia, Töölö Bassotrio and Olavi Trio.

Teppo also contributed to the birth of the jaZZanti concert series and was initially our backing.

The concert is a unique ensemble from many aspects of music.
