3.9.2021 @ 19:00
Villa Hakasalmi
20€Janne Saarinen: oboe and English horn, Ilkka Uksila: vibraphone, Joonas Tuuri: bass and Joonas Leppänen: drums
Founded in 2018, The Watercolors paints elegant jazz watercolors, borrowing tonal colors from both African American jazz and Western art music. The band’s music includes the spontaneous improvisation of jazz, rich harmonies and swinging rhythm, as well as the appealing listening and sensitivity brought about by its unique composition. The oboe and the English horn are played by Janne Saarinen (eg the Sointi Jazz Orchestra), who has also composed the band’s music. The vibraphone is interpreted by Ilkka Uksila, who influenced Berlin and later became a Helsinki resident (eg Tomi Nikku 5tet). Joonas Tuuri (eg JAF trio), known from many well-known jazz bands, can be heard on the double bass. The drums, on the other hand, are played by Joonas Leppänen, who has gained fame eg as the leading figure of his own band Alder Ego.
