Artturi Rönkä & Amanda Blomqvist
24.9.2021 @ 19:00 - 20:15
Villa Hakasalmi
Artturi Rönkä
Pianist-composer Artturi Rönkä’s solo concert consists of new music composed in 2020. Echoes of modern jazz and contemporary art music as well as the more distant history of music can be heard in the compositions. Free improvisation is also heard around the sketch-like compositions reminiscent of a pandemic era. The concert has been supported by the Art Promotion Center.
Artturi Rönkä (b. 1990) is a Helsinki-based pianist-composer whose production includes both jazz and new concert music. As a pianist, Rönkä can be heard e.g. in the bands AR Quartet, Kasperi Sarikoski & Nuance, Jere Haakana Varjosto and Selma Juudit Alessandra. Rönkä is also a sought-after arranger, whose arrangements UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra performs regularly.
Amanda Blomqvist
Ålander drummer-singer Amanda Blomqvist is familiar with the soundly rich bands Birdpeople and Frank Frank Frank. The new solo project is bare but also powerful, a combination of drums and human voice, where minimalistic rhythms and free improvisation find their natural place.
